Dinner Time: Maple Bacon Candy Canes

Someone put on their creative thinking cap and infused candy canes with bacon using this recipe. However, she made a few changes:

instead of peppermint I used 1/2 tsp maple flavoring and 1/4 tsp vanilla. I cooked about a half of pound of bacon REALLY crispy. I let it “drip dry” and then I put it in my Cuisinart. I run it until the bacon turns into little specks or what I call “bacon freckles.” I add the freckles when I added the flavoring. The directions are kind of vague at the end. I greased a cookie sheet and a spatula with bacon grease and poured the liquid candy onto it. I then started folding the candy with the spatula until it was cool enough to handle. I then bacon greased my hands and started pulling the candy until it was holding up its shape. I then formed the canes and let them fully cool on another bacon greased cookie sheet. Then voila bacon canes!
