Finally, we have proof that bacon is good for you…well, sort of.
Researchers at ETH Zurich have concluded that diets rich in niacin (aka Vitamin B3) can help you live longer after tests with roundworms resulted in a lifespan that was one-tenth longer than usual.
It just so happens that bacon is high in niacin.
It gets better. Professor Michael Ristow, who headed the study, also said “Niacin tricks the body into believing that it is exercising – even when this is not the case.”
Despite these findings, we don’t recommend sitting on the couch in a tracksuit eating bacon for exercise. Meat sweats aren’t the same thing as jogging sweats.
