Chocolate mint stout is nothing new, but all of the other breweries didn’t think to name their version “Thick Mint”. Southern Tier Brewing Company did, and now everyone is talking about an unofficial Girl Scout cookie beer.
The stout clocks in at 10 percent ABV, and will be part of of Southern Tier’s “Blackwater” series, which features dessert-inspired Imperial stouts such as “Choklat, Creme Brûlée, Choklat Oranj, and Salted Caramel”. It’s brewed with cocoa nibs and mint, not actual Girl Scout cookies, so it doesn’t even fully cross the line into Oreo-beer gimmick territory.
Just in time for St. Patrick's Day, #ThickMint is now available in many markets! Check out the @stbcbeer beer finder at stbcbeer.com/beer-finder to find this beauty. If you can't find it yet, you soon will! This girl scout inspired Imperial Dessert Stout, the newest addition to our #BlackwaterSeries, is perfectly chocolate/mint balanced & has just a touch of sweetness.
Does this beer closely mimic the flavor of Thin Mints at least? You’ll have to try it yourself and decide. It is available right now in 12 ounce bottles and draft according to Beer Street Journal, who went all-in on the photo to go along with their Thick Mint announcement.
