By the end of our trip to wine country, we had pretty much had our fill of fancy food and fine wines so we decided to shift gears a bit and make a visit to Lokal in Sonoma for some “European soul food”.
I don’t know what that tagline conjures up in your mind, but for me it means sausage, sauerkraut and beer—so that’s exactly what I ordered. The Hamburg Platter came with two kinds of sausage, a delicious golden sauerkraut (slightly caramelized), German potato salad and a half liter of Spaten.
The prices are slightly high for what you get, but there are nightly beer and food specials to take advantage of. Plus there is a modest beer garden out back that’s a nice change of pace in a area dominated by French, Italian and American cuisine.
