Apparently, Snapple Apple has no actual apples in it. However, it does have pear juice. Sounds like a conspiracy to me.
The reality is that by labeling it as a “juice drink”, which Snapple does with Snapple Apple, the beverage is not required to use any specific fruit. It can also contain as little as 5% juice. In Snapple’s case, Snapple Apple is 10% juice, and it contains pear juice that has been flavored to taste like apple.
Why would you employ pears to do an apple’s job? Well, it seems that apple sucks at being apple. For some reason, apple juice doesn’t taste like what consumers expect of an apple drink, so pear juice is offen dressed up instead.
