When you have the name Jack Daniels, part of you must feel obligated to name your children or pets in a similar fashion (while the other part dismisses it as crazy). One man with that name didn’t listen to the latter.
Jack Daniels Leathers and his wife Lydia Leathers named their newborn son Jim Beam last month. They told Houma Today that they did so to continue the whiskey name tradition started by Jack’s parents. He explained:
“My parents decided they wanted to name their son something to make their parents mad,” Jack said. “And, at the time, my dad was drinking Jack, which he enjoyed. My mom said, ‘Why not?'”
Jack and Lydia came up with the Jim Beam idea on their very first date. And don’t worry, they have plans for booze themed names for future children.
“If we have another child, our second born will be Evan Williams, after the bourbon. If it’s a girl, she will be Sherry, like the cooking sherry.”
Hey, every family has traditions.
