If you’re familiar with Downton Abbey, then you probably know already that Lord Grantham and the other members of Crawley clan are quite the wine aficionados. Wine’s a pretty big part of the show. So, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the show’s producers gave the green light to an official Downton Abbey wine.
Wines that Rock (also responsible for various music-themed wines such as Grateful Dead Wine, Rolling Stones’ Forty Licks Merlot, Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon Cabernet Sauvignon and The Police’s Synchronicity) will be offering a Downton Abbey Bordeaux this coming Wednesday.
Edward Deitch, a James Beard award-winning food critic, critiqued the wine for Today.com and mentioned that it’s “really too young to appreciate fully at this point.” It’s a blend of merlot, cabernet sauvignon and malbec, and it has some pretty minor flavor notes, which Deitch believes can be alleviated by letting the wine breath for a few hours before you before enjoying a glass.
