Two major Japanese companies are celebrating huge birthdays this year. For their 40th anniversary, DyDo Drinco is teaming up with Nintendo to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of Super Mario Bros with two very special drinks. The coffee blend drinks look like warp pipes and each house a different character icon figure along with a special 3-panel leaflet.
This is part awesome company mash-up and part wonderful nostalgia for super fans. Also, really what’s better than coffee and classic video games?
There are eight varieties in total: Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Princess Peach, Goomba, Koopa Troopa, Toad, and Lakitu.
According to Rocket News 24:
The figures will be attached to cans of DyDo Blend – Blend Coffee, a light roast coffee that uses beans from five countries, and DyDo Blend – Demitasse Coffee, another long-selling hit with a richer coffee flavor (this type includes milk). The latter is brewed with premium coffee beans that are selected from five different Central and South American countries, and it uses 1.5 times more beans per drink than the industry standard. Both drinks retail for 115 yen (US$0.96).

This just makes me remember a time when there were no save points, so I had to spend hours and hours in a sitting to beat the game the first time. And I was way too young for coffee. No save points…how did we survive?
