Japan Unleashes Kit Kat Sushi Onto The World

Japan’s love of exotic Kit Kat flavors has been well documented. In fact, they have entire stores dedicated to unique Kit Kat varieties. The latest of these specialty shops is set to open in Tokyo’s Ginza on February 2, and they’re selling sushi Kit Kats to mark the occasion.

Kit Kat sushi will be available in Maguro (tuna), Tamago (egg), and Uni (sea urchin) styles to represent the sushi that inspired them. But fear not—the taste isn’t going to be as gross as you imagine:

Maguro features a raspberry flavored Kit Kat on puffed rice covered with white chocolate.

Uni features Hokkaido melon and mascarpone cheese flavored Kit Kats wrapped in seaweed.

Tamago features a pumpkin pudding flavored Kit Kat on puffed rice covered in white chocolate and wrapped with seaweed.

The Kit Kat sushi will sell for 3,000 yen (US$26) at the Ginza shop in limited quantities between February 2nd and February 4th. Odds are you won’t be able to get your hands on one, but you might be inspired to try and make something similar at home.
