Emily Seilhamer has spent four years saving 10,000 Starburst wrappers in order to create a dress that is not only impressive because of its material, but also because of its stunning colors and design.
Wrappers flooded in from friends and family which were then sorted by color, ironed, folded into links and formed into candy wrapper chains held together by elastic thread. She then sealed the edges with painted underwear elastic which also allowed a zipper to be added.
Apart from being an awesome bit of candy inspired fashion, the project is also deeply personal, as she met her husband a few years prior to beginning the dress when he offered her a pack of Starburst. He went on to save grocery bags full of the wrappers for her, which resulted in the dress having a special spot at their wedding.
