Cookie Monster’s New Video “Me Want It” Is All About Self Regulating

cm 1

Sesame Street has always tried to engage kids with positive lessons and Cookie Monster is awesome. This much we know.

But I’ll admit, I’m a bit squinty-eyed at whoever wrote this comment accompanying the new video “Me Want It”, which is a play on Icona Pop’s “I Love It”.

‘Sesame Street’ launches its 44th season on September 16th, 2013 with a new self-regulation and executive function curriculum. Cookie Monster, the poster-child for someone needing to master self-regulation skills, attempts to explain these concepts while devising personal strategies on waiting to eat a cookie.

Executive function curriculum? And Cookie Monster is a poster child for needing self-regulation skills? Wow, way to sound…douchey?

How about this? Sesame Street knows kids can have problems with overindulgence sometimes, especially with so many temptations. Even our beloved Cookie Monster needs a little help now and then. Sometimes waiting takes practice so follow along and let’s dance!

I know, I know, I’m getting all grrr about nothing—but I love Cookie Monster and cookies are irresistible.

Check the video out after the break.
