Sonic has opened up its second location in Connecticut, which apparently threatened McDonald’s so much that they made employee’s stand outside the new Sonic with signs attempting to redirect customers to a nearby McDonalds (although they seem to be confused as to the exact location of said restaurant).
The image above was posted to the Sonic Facebook page with the following caption:
The Manager of McDonalds in Burrs Corner of Manchester made their employees stand in front of our new store today with signs redirecting our Sonic business to their McDonalds store. This really shocked all of our customers and our new employees! AMAZING! There is enough business to go around! Our hearts went out to the 2 MC employees who obviously didn’t want to be there!
Of course, the question is whether or not this was a smart marketing tactic or a desperate cheap shot. Given that McDonald’s probably has more locations in CT than Sonic has in the entire US, we’re voting the latter.
