McDonald’s has a reputation of serving some of the best fountain Coca-Cola around, and now we know the reason.
According to the New York Times and McDonald’s own FAQ, the chain preserves the freshness of the Coke syrup by shipping it in stainless steel containers rather than typical plastic packages. However, this isn’t the only step toward awesomeness – the company reportedly takes great pains to follow the manufacturer’s guidelines:
The water and Coca-Cola syrup are pre-chilled before entering our fountain dispensers with the ratio of syrup set to allow for ice to melt. We also keep our fountain beverage system cold so your drink can always be at the peak of refreshing. In order to ensure our drinks are always meeting a gold standard, we have proper filtration methods in place.
Even the straw is specially designed, being slightly wider than a typical straw to help ensure that “all that Coke taste can hit all your tastebuds.”
The Coke will even be sweeter for your wallet too, as the company has announced that any drink size will be available for a buck beginning in April.
