With new ownership, new management and a new marketing team, Burger King is finally taking the necessary steps to be more competitive with McDonald’s, and that means doing away with the creepy King mascot whose very existence has been baffling us for the last 8 years.
Instead of focusing on burgers, the fast food chain was trying to push an edgy brand image, which resulted in slumping sales and an ad campaign that will haunt them forever. Realizing this, the new managers of Burger King hired a different ad agency that have already produced a commercial for the California Whopper which is based exclusively on the sights and sounds of the burger’s ingredients being washed and diced.
According to Alex Maccedo, Burger King’s senior vice president for North America marketing: “People want a reason to go back to Burger King … There are no plans to bring the King back anytime soon.”
