The UK’s Tesco chain of supermarkets is launching a sandwich that takes the Double Downs, Foot Long Cheesburgers and BurgerMelts of the world head-on. That’s right, a fat-tasticly nerdalicious lasagna sandwich.

Despite being promoted as a “healthy option”, the Daily Mail claims that one sandwich has 565 calories and 26.9 grams of fat. A far cry from the 87 calories and 4.1 grams of fat displayed on the box. This may only be a mock-up package for promotional images, but its still a ridiculously fraudulent claim. Apparently the correct nutritional values were included on the final packaging in sort of a bait-and-switch kind of thing.

What’s more, Tesco food developer and sandwich creator Laura Fagan thinks that its a perfect snack:

“We think the lasagne sandwich could become the food of choice for anyone wanting a solid snack between meals,’ she said.”

Indeed, a solid snack. The kind of snack that sits in your stomach like a brick for days on end.  I don’t agree with passing this thing off as healthy, but I’m all for the sandwich.
