The lion has gone from king of the jungle to Burger King with the introduction of a lion meat burger at Mesa, Arizona restaurant Il Vinaio.
Owner Cameron Selogie ordered about 10 pounds of the meat from a free-range farm in Illinois that is regulated by the USDA. The meat is mixed with ground beef and served with a side of spicy chips and corn on the cob.
The USDA claims that serving the dish is perfectly legal, but you know animal activists still have a problem with us chowing down on Simba.
Selogie claims to have received about 150 emails and one bomb threat over the lion burger, but that hasn’t slowed him down. Il Vinaio has been selling around 15 burgers a day, so you know he has been stretching the hell out of that 10 pounds of meat.
When I order a lion burger, I had better get 100% lion dammit.
