Yes, These Skulls Are Edible

This might be rather hard to believe, but the creepy yet beautiful bejeweled skulls pictured above are actually cakes. British baker Annabel de Vetten of Conjurer’s Kitchen created these cake skulls recently—and they’re completely edible, right down to the teeth and the pillows they’re resting on. The skulls are made from chocolate, buttercream, hard candy, marzipan and sugar balls. Their gilded appearance was inspired by historically authentic bejeweled skeletons that Dr. Paul Koudounaris photographed for his books on macabre art.
