Anthony Bourdain’s ‘Get Jiro!’ Graphic Novel Slated For Release In June

If you have been anxiously awaiting the release of Get Jiro! the graphic novel cooked up by No Reservations/The Layover host Anthony Bourdain, Joel Rose, and artist Langdon Foss (Heavy Metal), you’ll be pleased to know that the 160 page publication is slated for release in June.

So what can readers expect? Bourdain has described Get Jiro! as: “…a gourmet slaughter-fest, sort of like ‘Fistful of Dollars’ meets ‘Eat Drink Man Woman” and “Yojimbo’ meets ‘Big Night’ and ‘Babette’s Feast’, an ultra-violent slaughter-fest over culinary arcana.”

If that explains nothing, perhaps you will find the publisher’s October, 2010 statement more informative:

GET JIRO! is a futuristic action thriller that takes America’s newfound obsession with exotic cuisine to a manic, violent extreme. It takes place in a world where food and the secrets of how to prepare it are the source of all power leading master chefs to fight over Jiro, a mysterious top-notch sushi chef with ideas of his own.

Although June is still a ways off, you can get a peek at what’s to come by hitting the jump and checking out some of art that Foss has posted at his blog.
