Burger King In PR Mode After After Photo Of Employee Standing In Lettuce Hits The Web

Recently a photo of a BK employee standing in lettuce was uploaded to 4Chan along with a caption that said “This is the lettuce you eat at Burger King”. Needless to say, people were less than thrilled with this blatant disregard for the health of the restaurant’s customers and used GeoTag information embedded in the photo to determine its point of origin: Mayfield Heights, Ohio.

Soon the town’s Facebook page was flooded with comments and BK big wigs jumped into action, quickly identifying and firing three employees responsible for causing the major league sh*tstorm. In his statement, Bryson Thornton, BK’s director of global communications, said:

“Burger King Corp. has recently been made aware of a photo that shows a Burger King restaurant employee violating the company’s stringent food handling procedures. Food safety is a top priority at all Burger King restaurants and the company maintains a zero-tolerance policy against any violations such as the one in question.”

Although a serious matter, the story did afford Alfred Maskeroni of AdWeek the opportunity to tweak a BK ad. Check it out after the jump.
