Love Sriracha? That’s great. Do you know who doesn’t like Sriracha? The entire city of Irwindale, California.

The city filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday, requesting that a nearby Huy Fong Foods factory (where Sriracha is made) shutdown temporarily due to a pervasive chili odor that was emanating from the plant. Local residents were complaining of burning eyes, irritated throats and headaches. The LA Times cited an incident that one family had to move a birthday party indoors because the spicy stench was just too strong.

Huy Fong initially made efforts of find a solution to the spicy odor, but had since denied that there was even a problem to begin with.

Until the company can find a way to minimize the smell, Irwindale will pursue temporary closure of the plant.
