Joey Chestnut took his fifth straight Nathan’s 4th of July hot dog eating contest with an impressive 62 dogs in 10 minutes. That’s six short of his personal best of 68, but it was still nine better than the second place finisher.
However, Takeru Kobayashi was not at the event after being banned from competition last year for refusing to sign a contract with Major League Eating. In a separate, unofficial competition Kobayashi was able to down 69 hot dogs in 10 minutes—a feat which would have earned him a world record.
