Planters Is Hooking Up Mr. Peanut With a Green Nutmobile

The Nutmobile hasn’t quite reached the stature of other famous mobiles like the Popemobile and the Wienermobile, so Planters is hooking Mr. Peanut up with a brand new, eco-friendly ride. It will be based on a 2011 Isuzu NPR truck with an unmodified diesel engine running on up to a 20% biodiesel mix. The giant peanut exterior will be made out of 11,000 pounds of fiberglass held in place with a steel frame.

It will also feature a wind turbine and solar panels that will help keep the interior lights and sound system running. Despite all of this added weight, it is still expected to return 10-15 mpg.

The Nutmobile will embark on a national tour starting in March and running through the end of the summer. Check out the full specs on the Nutmobile in the image after the break.
