If you are into spicy foods, chances are you’ve heard about the Ghost Chili (aka: Bhut Jolokia). It’s the world’s hottest commercially grown chili (401.5 times hotter than Tabasco) and it’s coming to European supermarket giant Tesco starting next week.
Tesco’s exotic vegetable buyer, Harry Jones, describes the experience of eating a Ghost Chili to the Daily Mail:
‘It’s an incredible sensation as the heat continues to build for a good 30 seconds and all I can say that it’s not for the faint-hearted or anyone with a respiratory condition.’
Apparently, the UK has an insatiable hunger for spicy foods, which is why Tesco is getting into the Ghost Chili. The UK is also home to the Guinness world’s hottest chili record holder.
I’m sure there are places you can score Ghost Chilis in the US, but one of the easiest ways to test your mettle is through these pepper flakes from ThinkGeek.
