Bunny Bread Is Popular In Japan, Naturally

For their grand opening on March 2nd, Japanese bakery Usagi-za Lepus had the brilliant idea of offering loaves of bread shaped like a rabbit’s head. The “bunny bread” immediately went viral (naturally), which makes it virtually impossible to keep the product in stock.

Only 32 loaves are baked daily, being offered eight at a time at 10 and 11 am and 3 and 5 pm. However, it’s not just the prospect of eating a bunny-shaped sandwich that’s drawing customers – the bread’s texture is said to be lighter than expected with a good crunch and mild sweetness. Plus, it sells for only 300 yen a loaf, or about $3.
