Nestle has installed an intricate Rube Goldberg machine in Japan that will not only brew you a cup of coffee using one of their Bluetooth coffee makers, but will do so while playing Christmas songs.
The machine is made from 1,450 pieces of wood, 180 of which are tuned to the required notes of the song. The appropriate notes are triggered when a ball bearing rolls across them, while also engaging hammers which strike a glockenspiel to create bell-like tones to enhance the music.
The device, which reportedly plays different Christmas tunes on different days, is currently located outside the Nescafé outlet in Harajuku, Japan, where it will remain until Christmas Day. See it in action below.
