Dessert Time: Pantone Chip Cookies

When we are children, we were told not to eat the paint chips. Well, I was often told that anyway. They were such bright pretty colors though. How could anyone not think it’s candy? Designer Kim Neil must have thought this too. She was working on client gifts around Christmas, and when she saw the Pantone Chip Tins at an art supply store, she was inspired. Cookies that are decorated to look like Pantone chips, brilliant! She said the process was really pretty easy. It looks a bit time consuming, but what a fun thing to make for your graphic designer friends. Neil details the process at her blog.

She doesn’t mention how the cookies were made though. You can use the sugar cookie recipe we talked about for the Star Wars cookies, or you can buy sugar cookie dough in a tube. Royal icing is a basic recipe you can find on the internet; I particularly recommend the Joy of Baking version. You can add color with liquid food coloring or gel paste tubes.
