This Is What Happens When A Granola Bar Company Goes Nuts Over Anime On Twitter

When the person behind a company Twitter handle knows how to do their job and is allowed to pick up the ball and run with it, glorious things can happen.

Like, for instance, what happened with Nature Valley (yes, the granola bar people) and the creation of the Nature Valley Anime Art Fest. This is an example of social media done right.

It all started with one tweet.

Which got this reply from Jess Wangsness, the community engagement specialist for Nature Valley.

Just one person replying to someone on Twitter in a kind, friendly way and taking a moment to say something nice. Still, it’s not something you usually see from, say, a granola bar Twitter feed.

When people picked up on Nature Valley talking about anime, they decided to tweet and Jess engaged. The cool thing is, she never pretended to know something she didn’t and she had enough knowledge to discuss the subject. She just chatted, keeping it in line with the company, but having fun and being positive.

One thing led to another and the next thing you know people are sending in anime art featuring Nature Valley granola bars. The Nature Valley Anime Art Fest was born. See some of the results after the break…
