Pumpkinstein is the work of Tony Dighera of Cinagro Farms who created a mold that forces the pumpkins to grow in to the shape of Frankenstein’s face. He notes:
“If it’s not right, it can accelerate the rotting of the fruit. There’s also the timing of mold placement. It has to be done with the fruit’s small enough to fit inside, but there’s a risk the fruit will turn during it’s growing process and snap away from its stem.”
Dighera grew 5000 of these this year and sold them for $75 each, completely selling out before they were even harvested. Pumpkinstein has been such a hit that he plans to make them the focus of his 40-acre farm, producing 30-40,000 Pumpkinsteins each year.
