Waiter Kyle Hanson arrived for his shift at Kazoku and was in for a rough night. The restaurant was understaffed and despite his best efforts, service was terribly slow. Makenzie and and Steven Shultz were two of the diners there and they had to wait 20 minutes for water, 40 minutes for an appetizer and over an hour for their meals. It was their anniversary dinner.
You’d think this would mean a lousy tip for poor Kyle, but the Shultz’s decided that it was the perfect time to try and put themselves in his shoes, which was easy to do since they’d once worked waiting tables. They realized that he’d likely be getting bad tips all night even though it wasn’t his fault so they payed it forward. The tip they left on their $66.65 meal was $100.
They posted a picture on their facebook page, along with their hope that it would remind everyone to not judge each other so harshly and to try and see things from the other side.
