BurgaBox Sent Me The Best Damn Burger I’ve Ever Had [Review]

Over the last four years, I have cooked around 1000 subscription box meals. I currently make these meals six days a week. However, the absolutely ridiculous Hot Mess Feast Kit I received for this review from BurgaBox was the most delicious recipe of them all. Honestly, it was the best burger I’ve ever had.

If you are unfamiliar, BurgaBox is a meal kit from the guys behind the world famous Boston Burger Company. However, these kits aren’t for everyday eating. They’re for special occasions when you want a completely insane burger experience to rival anything that you’ve ever drooled over on Instagram. BurgaBox is for wowing your friends at parties or indulging in a epic cheat day.

There are numerous feast kit options to choose from, but I decided to start with the Hot Mess because it won Rachael Ray’s The Battle of the Best Burger national competition—and rightly so.

My Customized Kit Included:

  • Ingredients for two Hot Mess Burgers with toppings that included Thousand Island dressing, Hot Mess sauce (which includes ingredients like diced pickles, jalapeño, and red onion), sweet potato fries, lettuce, and American cheese.
  • 2lb of pulled pork mac ‘n cheese
  • 1lb Garlic parmesan wedge fries
  • 8oz side of Boston baked beans
  • 8oz side of homemade cole slaw

This is for two people.

TWO PEOPLE!

Washed the meal down with my homebrewed Belgian Blonde. Amazing.

I have to say, as good as that burger was, the pulled pork mac almost reached the same stratospheric level of flavor. The beans and coleslaw were also delicious, but I halved the parmesan topping on the fries. They were awesome, but I’ll admit that was afraid to really push the caloric envelope any farther. For that reason, I also opted not to butter the bread and toast it in the pan with the burger fond. In other words, there was room to go even more nuts with this—but the end result was just right for me. The whole meal was a whirlwind of over-the-top flavors.

Speaking of the cooking process, if you have any experience with meal kits, you’ll know that the average recipe takes around 45-minutes or so from start to finish. Things went a lot quicker with the Hot Mess Kit since most of the sides were already prepared. All I had to do with the mac and the beans was heat them up. Basically, even if you’re a cooking novice, cooking up one of these kits shouldn’t pose much of a challenge.

At this point it’s pretty obvious that I enjoyed my BurgaBox experience. I’m big into bodybuilding, so this was a really amazing cheat day. If you’re looking to turn a meal into an event, I highly recommend trying out the Hot Mess—but, again, there are lots of options to choose from. At $65 for a two meal kit, this isn’t exactly a value proposition, but you will certainly get a lot of bang for your buck.
