I will say that these soy sauce dishes are extremely well crafted—perhaps to their detriment. Apparently, they’re made by master craftsmen that specialize in the Japanese porcelain known as Arita ware. Each dish was designed in such a way as to provide the ideal ratio of soy sauce to sushi. They even come in a fancy wooden box.
In other words, these things aren’t cheap. Soy sauce dishes that would have been perfectly sufficient made with lesser materials will now run you 11,380 yen (US$102). While I appreciate the quality here, it might be overkill to make elegant and expensive soy sauce dishes that are shaped like Star Wars characters. Just sayin’.
