Israeli design student Schmuel Linkski created this concept Lavazza espresso machine which is encased in concrete and would look perfectly natural sitting in a mechanic’s shop covered with enough oil to lubricate a Peterbilt.
“I had a vision. Concrete in the kitchen, not only as a wall or decorative part, I wanted it to be a desirable consumer product.”
Mission accomplished. now it just needs to be available for purchase at your local NAPA.

Obviously, this toaster is a concept (and an impractical one at that), but that doesn’t mean it isn’t awesome. Basically, the Toaste/E/R from designer Shay Carmon combines bread toasting with a defibrillator to “revive your old bread.”
That might work for dry old bread, but what about mold? It’s like the plague. I guess someone is going to have to come up with a complete first aid kit for bread.

Sadly, this awesome hedgehog cheese grater design is just a concept at the moment, as is my dream of owning a beaver-shaped meat tenderizer with an automatic flapping tail.

You know that slime monster from Futurama? Well take that same basic premise and apply it to your refrigerator and you have a semi-finalist in this year’s Electrolux Design Lab competition.
Basically, you would bury your food inside a odorless, non-sticky polymer gel instead of putting it on shelves. Admittedly, the idea is kind of intriguing (and just a little bit gross. I mean, at least put a door on the thing).
