Zagat recently released the results of their 2010 Fast Food survey which compiled results based on 6,518 Zagat.com diners eating at chain restaurants an average of 10.7 times per month, totaling 837,000 meals. The survey was categorized by the type of food chain visited: “Large (up to 5,000 U.S. outlets), Mega (over 5,000), Full-Service (with table service), and Quick-Refreshment (focused on beverages, ice cream, etc.)”.
The greatest upset was probably in the burger category, where West Coast staple In-N-Out was beaten out by Five Guys. The rest of the top five saw Wendy’s in third place followed by Burger King in fourth and McDonald’s in 5th. However, die hard In-N-Out fans will be happy to know that their favorite burger joint did earn first place for “Top Food” among large chains. The complete results for the survey can be found here.
