A Look Inside The Doomsday Seed Vault [Video]


If you haven’t heard of it before, the Svalbard Global Seed Vault in Svalbard, Norway houses nearly one million seed variants from around the globe as a measure of protection for the world’s food supply in the event of a catastrophe.

The so-called “Doomsday Vault” was built to last around 200 years and was installed deep in a mountain to offer consistent low temperatures and protection from earthquakes and explosions.

Veritasium host Derek Muller recently received a tour of the location, which is chronicled in the video below.
