Cheese Made From Human Bacteria Is Beyond Gross

Yeah, it so does not matter if this was in the interest of science or education. It’s gross! These cheeses were made using human bacteria from things like toes and belly buttons by scientist Christina Agapakis and scent expert Sissel Tolaas. According to Agapakis:

“Despite [their] chemical and biological similarities, there are obviously very different cultural and emotional responses to stinky cheese and stinky feet. By making cheese directly from the microbes on the body, we want to highlight these bacterial connections as well as to question and potentially expand the role of both odors and microbes in our lives.”

And no, they’re not made to be eaten. Why? Just…why?
